SEVERE NECROTISING ENTERITIS AND COLITIS ASSOCIATED WITH PCV2 AND SALMONELLA INFECTIONS IN PIGS

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is one of the most important viral pathogen in the Hungarian swine population nowadays. Diarrhoea is common in herds suffering from PCV2 associated disease (PCVAD). PCV2 associated enteritis can occur as part of systemic PCVAD ', but enteritis was also sown to be a distinct clinical manifestation of PCVAD2. Recently necrotizing enteritis and colitis was caused by PCV2 infection, which was indistinguishable macroscopically from proliferative enteritis due to Lawsonia (L.) intracellularis3. The aim of the present study was to examine the aetiological role of different infectious pathogens in necrotic enteritis and colitis of pigs.
