FIELD EFFICACY OF SUVAXYN PCV2 ONE DOSE VACCINE IN NEW ZEALANDPIGGERIES

Porcine circovirus diseases have become an important cause of pig morbidity and mortality across much of the world. The first outbreak of the disease occurred on the north island of New Zealand in 2003 but further spread was effectively spread throughan industry-funded depopulation programme. A second outbreak of the disease occurred on the country's south island early in 2006 and has been reported elsewhere (Neumann and others 2007). A single commercial vaccine (Suvaxyn PCV2 One Dose, Fort Dodge) became available in the country during 2007 and a study was designed to determine the efficacy of the vaccine under New Zealand field conditions.
