Petroleum exploration based on tectonic and basin analogies is common and promising. From Ghana and Cote d'lvoire of Africa to French Guiana of South America, explorers built up the model of the Late Cretaceous turbidites plays with big discoveries. Turbidite systems developed along the slope provided the high-quality reservoirs, and turbidites bodies perfectly formed the stratigraphic traps for oil and gas accumulation. Source rock was contributed by the distal organic-rich shale rocks of the same age, and hydrocarbon generated from source migrated limitedly updip through the faults and unconformities. The concept was applied to explore the potential of Brazilian Equatorial Margins, especially for the Foz Do Amazon Basin. Turbidite systems with great potentials were well recognized based on seismic data. And risks were recognized in hydrocarbon migration and charge revealed by Zaedyus. Turbidites located along the slope and close to the source kitchens should be of exploration priority.
