This paper is a follow up to last year's presentation at the POWERID in Pittsburg. Since then, this application concept was reviewed by the SP77 committee and a scope and purpose for a Technical Report has been approved. A subcommittee has been formed to work on this task, assigned number SP77.70.01. The problem that Salt River Project (SRP) has addressed and is correcting has proven to be a common worldwide problem throughout the industry. This paper will present a successful way to address the common issue of tracking, troubleshooting and reporting Instrument and Control (I & C) data in a standard format and timely manner, that can be used across the power industry. Navajo Generating Station (NGS), Managed by SRP, designed a Power Generation Instrument & Control Application (PGIC) that is adaptable for use by multiple facilities and is compatible with many distributed control systems: such as Foxboro, Honeywell or Allen Bradley, etc. The user-friendly interface allows the plant personnel (including drafting, instrument technicians, electricians, operators, engineers and managers) to easily access I & C drawing information (loop, electrical and connection) as well as cable schedules, raceway details, piping instrument documents and work practice procedures. By having this information available, the users are able to complete work more safely and efficiently at NGS and soon at other power facilities.
