摘要

Zoogeographic affinities were delineated for the 75 Plecoptera species recorded from Arizona and New Mexico. Nearly half (37) were characterized as widespread western species; 18 were southwestern species; 17 were Rocky Mountain species; and three were widespread eastern species. In four major physiographic subdivisions of the study area, stonefly species arrange themselves in ways that reveal dispersal corridors, dispersal barriers and refugia that operated during late Pleistocene pluvial and post-pluvial Holocene environments. As a bridge between Nearctic and Neotropical regions, the southwestern Plecoptera fauna was shown to be distinct in its species composition, taxonomic representation and level of endemism.
