The German Meteorological Service (DWD) performs a comprehensive operational measurement program at the Meteorological Observatory Lindenberg / Richard– Mmann Observatory- (MOL-RAO). in order to provide a reference data set on the physical structure and processes in the atmosphere – the so-called "Lindenberg Column". Boundary-layer measurements form an essential part of the observatory 's activities, and a special boundary-layer field site has been established in the 1990ies at an open field 5 km to the south of the observatory site [1 ](Figure 1).
