New Excited Approaches to Stimulating the Peripheral Nervous System:Is this the Future of Neuromodulation?

Classic teaching of neuromodulation has focused on spinal cord stimulation and intrathecal drug infusions (1,2). Many articles have been written on these important topics and they continue to evolve and improve over time. Despite the focus on these two major spinal techniques there is a possibility that the future of neuromodulation does not lie within the spine, but within the periphery of the neural connections.
