The influence of culture on Low Cost Airport Terminals (LCTs) Development

Culture may be defined as behavior, way of life and beliefs, of a population, that are passed down from one generation to another. The existing models of Low Cost Terminals (LCTs) only concentrate on cost efficiency without considering the influence of culture. Thus, there is a need to investigate alternative models for the provision of terminal facilities that take into consideration the influence of culture on development. This paper reviews the significance of alternative LCT model's taking into account passenger expectations and culture. Furthermore, the paper proposes a methodology for determining appropriate terminal facilities for LCT development taking into account the influence of culture on LCT design, passenger expectations, operational efficiency and economic benefits.
