This paper presents an implementation and compatibility tests of an advanced hybrid (wireless-wired) entertainment network (server+multiple clients) implemented using coaxial cable, conventional Ethernet and WiFi technologies. This architecture takes into account the "Home gateway" concept present in many implementations solving the problem of the "Intelligent home". The overall presentation is followed by an investigation of the main performances obtained using this architecture. Our experiments revealed that this but still simple solution makes possible to have entertainment and data services with performances suitable for an "Intelligent home" in a cost-effective architecture.
