The present study is focused on fabrication of mullite--Al composites via reactive infiltration of porous ceramics by molten Al. Both phases in the obtained composite are interpenetrating throughout the microstructure. Mechanical and thermal properties as well as microstructure were analyzed. Bending strength increased with increasing reaction time due to the new phases developed in the bodies. (
