The paper presents the results of investigations on the influence of different kinds and sizes of inclusions on Weibull parameter value for alumina-based particulate composites. It was established that the description of composite reliability using both twoand three parameter Weibull statistics gave much better characteristics of the material. The calculated parameters of the Weibull distribution for both, two-parameter (m, σ0) and three-parameter distribution (m, σ0, σ_u), were significantly different for the composites with similar nominal composition. These differences could be ascribed to microstructural reasons. The microstructure analysis showed that certain differences of the inclusion distribution in the composite matrix strongly influence Weibull parameters values, even if other mechanical properties (fracture toughness, mean bending strength, hardness, Young modulus) are similar.
