Results of the experiments aimed at the study of fission and quasi-fission processes in the reactions ~(48)Ca+~(144,154)Sm,~(168)Er, ~(208)Pb,~(238)U,~(244)Pu,~(248)Cm;~(50)Ti+~(208)Pb,~(244)Pu; ~(58)Fe+~(208)Pb,~(244)Pu; ~(248)Cm, and ~(64)Ni+~(186)W, 242)Puleading to the formation of heavy super-heavysystems with Z=82-122 are presented. Cross sections, mass-energy and angulardistributions for fission and quasi-fission fragments have been studied at energies closeand below the Coulomb barrier. The influence of the reaction entrance channel propertiessuch as mass asymmetry, deformations, neutron excess, shell effects in the interactingnuclei and producing compound nucleus, the mechanism of the fusion-fission and thecompetitive process of quasi-fission are discussed.
