摘要

In-situ Chemical Reduction (ISCR) is a proven technology for treatment of Cr(VI) in soil and groundwater at plating, wood treating and tannery sites. Conversion of mobile, soluble and toxic Cr(VI) to immobile, insoluble, non-toxic Cr(III) allows site remediation and redevelopment to occur without costly excavation and disposal of hazardous soils. Full scale in-situ reduction of Cr(VI) has not been attempted at sites containing Chromite Ore Processing Residue (COPR) because bench and pilot testing has indicated that the geochemical and mineralogical nature of COPR makes the kinetics of chrome reduction very challenging.
