Semiconducting polymers are increasingly used as active layers in electrical and electro-optical devices like organic light emitting diodes (OLED), solar cells or field-effect transistors (OFET). In contrast to conventional display technologies (liquid crystal displays LCD, cathode ray tubes CRT) polymer-based devices feature several benefits such as low energy consumption, reduced weight, thin and flexible construction, improved optical properties, and inexpensive production.
