Adipose Tissue-derived MesenchymalStem Cells have Lower OsteogenicPotential than Bone Marrow-derivedMesenchymal Stem Cells

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are able to differentiate into various functionalcell types of mesodermal tissues [1-3]. With rapid advancements in tissueengineering, a multitude of applications for cultured MSCs in the constructionof regenerative tissues have been demonstrated [3-5]. We have used humanMSCs from patients' bone marrow for treating various diseases centering on thebone diseases since 2001 [6-8]. MSCs with or without various scaffolds havebeen transplanted into more than 80 patients. Recently, multipotentmesenchymal cells were also found in adipose tissue [9].
