Selected microwave treatments were applied to observe effect on Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, A. ochraceus and A. parasiticus growth in potato-dextrose agar with modified aw (0.99, 0.97 and 0.95), adjusted by adding sucrose or sodium chloride. Mold spores were submitted to microwave treatment, at 10 power levels (from 10 to 100% of the maximum power) and different times (0, 3, 6 up tol 18s). Non-treated and treated molds were incubated at 25°C. Mold radial growth rate (RGR) was calculated and modeled through a surface response models, while mold growth/no growth response was modeled using a logistic regression model.
