In order to cope with the continued increase in design wave heights, due to deeper construction sites and larger waves, the sizes of vertical caissons and wave dissipating concrete blocks have been increased gradually. An innovative sloping top caisson has been developed to reduce the costs in deeper water. Increased wave height conditions require new 80 ton Dolos to be developed. In this study, a sloping top caisson and 80 ton Dolos with full reinforcement are developed successfully for the breakwaters in Hososhima Port for the first time in Japan.
