The implementation of electric drives means new challenges for the automobile industry. This work is dedicated to the control of the electric drive train as well as the boundary conditions and requirements for the metrological determination of the engine output. The demands on the speed variability and the dynamic load of the electric machine lead to the use of modern inverter-fed drives with pulsed voltage, which compared to the sinusoidal feed, implicate considerable aspects as dead time and harmonics. There challenges are pointed out and solutions presented for the control. Special standards are set to the determination of engine performance and the equipment required for this measurement, which in this work are examined theoretically and based on measurements are practically analyzed.
