The wish to integrate non-destructive testing at an early stage in production is an understandable one, given the considerable scope this offers for cost savings (on energy and material) and product improvement. Pursuing this trend to its logical conclusion in the production of steel products such as strips and wires implies testing them as they are being rolled.
