Anthracite coal became the main fuel for sintering to compensate the shortage of coke breeze due to the increase of pulverized coal injection at blast furnace. The replacement of coke breeze by anthracite coal influenced the sintering performances as the properties including combustion characteristics of anthracite coal differ significantly from those of coke breeze. In this study, the physical properties and combustion characteristics of anthracite coal were analyzed and sinter pot tests were performed to evaluate the effects of anthracite quality and quantity on the sintering performances.
