The aim of the present study is to determine what sizes of the luminance variations in the light and dark portions of a building, when it is observed from a horizontal distance, in comparison to the sizes of the light and dark portions of the facade components, make it easy for viewers to discern a sense of perspective for the facade components. The results of the analysis showed that there exist specific sizes in the perpendicular direction and horizontal direction, respectively, for the perceived sizes of the light and dark part that forms sense of perspective. The sense of perspective effects are lacking when the visual angle in the perpendicular direction is 0.1 degrees and under, and it becomes easier to grasp them when it is in the vicinity of 0.15 to 0.2 degrees. It is difficult to grasp the sense of perspective effects when the visual angle in the perpendicular direction is 0.5 degrees and under, and it is becomes easier to see the sense of perspective when it is in the vicinity of 1 degree and above.
