Progress on Stabilized Lithium Metal Powder (SLMP~(TM)), an Enabling Material for a New Generation of Li-ion Batteries

SLMP ( Lectro? Max lithium powder) an independent source of lithium for Li-ion batteries 1. It is effective in compensating for the anode irreversible capacities. 2. It allows the use of non lithium providing cathodes - opening up the choices. SLMP also enables syntheses of new battery materials 3. Sn/Si composites can be made through displacement reactions → nano Si/Sn for high capacities and inactive framework for cyclcability - all generated at the same time. 4. Metal oxides could be lithiated with SLMP → higher capacity cathode matcrials Both SLMP's air and solvent stabilities are being improved -for real life battery manufacturing environments.
