The problems facing most of the corn planter with rear profile mechanism in double cropping area in Huabei Plain (China), affecting the process of seed placement at precise steady planting depths, which lead to the problem of poor planting quality. Todeal with this problem a new type of row unit was designed. The new designed used the synchronous profile mechanism (copying depth wheels at apposition with double disc coulter J , parallel linkage with spring loaded and V-press wheel, structures and sizes were determined to ensure the consistency of planting depth through the analysis and simulation of critical structural parameters. The planting depth was adjustable, which it was ranged between 20 and 90 mm.The experiment site was a wheat field and the stubble after harvesting was present in the field until experiment was carried out in June 2013. An experimental plot consisted of two treatments, a new designed with a traditional type which has no synchronous profile mechanism were compared to find out their influence on planting depth uniformity. The results showed that, the new design planting depth uniformity was 91.4%, which was 11.4% higher than traditional one; moreover, this kind of row unit had a highly capability to pass in field without stoppages during the experiment. Also the results show great importance for the popularization and application of new row unit for corn planter in this area.
