ANALYSIS OF PESTICIDE RESIDUES IN CANNABIS REGULATED BY CALIFORNIA AND OREGON STATE USING LC/MS/MS WITH DUAL ELECTROSPRAY AND APCI SOURCE

Over 20 states in the U. S. have legalized the use of recreational or medical cannabis because of therapeutic benefits for ailments such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, and ALS. Since chronic exposure to pesticides in cannabis pose serious health risks, pesticide analysis in cannabis is important. Apart from Oregon state regulatory limits for about 65 pesticides in cannabis, the state of California has issued more stringent regulatory limits for 72 pesticides residues in cannabis flower and edibles. We analyzed all 72 pesticides (including very hydrophobic and chlorinated pesticides generally analyzed by GC/MS) spiked in cannabis flower extracts using LC-MS/MS with ESI and APCI source well below the action limits specified by both Oregon and California State.
