Second Cladding Manipulation in DSI-POF

摘要

By blending an additive in the second cladding, PMMA based double step index plastic optical fibers are given new features. This paper introduces not only double step single-core POF but double step multi-core POF which contain a carbon black in the second cladding manufactured by the composite spinning method. Its basic function is light shielding but it also grants a new numerical aperture for the fiber. These fibers are expected to create possibilities for new applications.
