The importance of SI-POF has been increasing during the last years. Different methods for high bit rate transmission over SI-POF have been discussed, for instance based on using block codes (4B5B, 8B10B), M-PAM and MCM (DMT as baseband version of OFDM). The use of DMT for SI-POF was proposed by Teleconnect GmbH in 2006 firstly for Fast Ethernet transmission over two fibres. For higher bit rates we are proposing the use of chipsets for copper-based transmission such as HomePlug and ITU-T's G.hn. Results of simulations, measurements with offline processing and real-time tests will be shown.
