Selectivity Studies in Bifunctional Organocatalysis

The aim of catalyst development has long been to achieve the efficiency and selectivity of enzymes via small molecules. Organocatalysis, a new catalytic strategy in chemistry, has been successful in several types of selectivity (chemoselectivity, enantioselectivity, diastereoselectivity). However, the area of regio- and substrate selectivity are neglected area for this family of catalysts. Recently, we have reported that a new bifunctional thiourea organocatalyst efficiently promotes the Michael reaction between nitromethane and chalcones with high level of enantioselectivity.
