Recently laser forming technology has been one of the research hotspots. Laser forming technologies include laser thermo forming and laser shock forming. This paper briefly summarizes the forming mechanisms of the laser forming process and analyzes the technical factor that has effect on these laser forming technologies. Characteristics of laser forming process and some key technique problems which have to be solved in engineering applications of laser forming processing was introduced. The paper also shows some applications of laser forming processes in sheet metal forming fields and makes a nice prospect for the future of laser forming technology.
