In order to discuss fracture flows, we must obtain the exact aperture and the geometry of the rock fracture and conduct a precise simulation, including the effect of the inertia term, the pressure term, and the shear resistance from the fracture walls. In this study, the aperture and the geometry have been measured using an optical measurement system and the flows through a single fracture have been calculated. Applying this precise numerical technique, the fracture flows have been discussed for conditions under which the cubic law is applicable.
