The volcanic rocks of the Canary Islands. Geotechnical properties

New data on the geomechanical properties of the highly cohesive volcanic rocks of the Canary Archipelago are provided in this work. On the basis of the textural features and petrologic types, a preliminary classification of rocks, grouped into different lithotypes, was made. This classification includes vesicular and non vesicular basalts, trachybasalts, trachytes, phonolites and ignimbrites.
