Collapse of welded tuff caused by groundwater flow

摘要

In Hokkaido, large-scale slope failures occur frequently in cliffy areas on the Sea of Japan. This paper focuses on a rockfall at Amagi-iwa Cliff in Sounkyo, discusses how that rockfall occurred, and reports on a groundwater investigation using boreholes drilled from the top surface of the welded tuff.
