Perception of Risks in Nanotechnology: Determining Key Aspects of its Status in Chile

摘要

In this work the current situation of nanotechnology in Chile respect to the associated risks to the incorporation of this new technology in time is analyzed, considering the particularity of Chile and its position in Science and Technology field. To know the perception considering the risks involved it applies an opinion survey and also a decision tree is built in order to take a decision regarding the most prominent risks, which there will be that to face upon, having as a main objective a greater development to Chilean level to the year 2020, the challenges also include technological development as well their impact in the economic environment associated. It is concluded that the main risks are related to the non-existence of a legislation and/or regulation in Sci-Tech field in Chile, which generates absence of feature and leadership, and therefore a deficit in the construction of knowledgement which are determinant factors in the world economic dynamics. It is found that in Chile the groups of specialists prepared to face the topic are reduced. Finally it is established that a communication strategy should exist to report and educate the citizenship, which is of vital importance to establish the public policies and regulations on the subject.
