The excitation method of short range surface plasmon polariton mode with hybrid coupler structure is analyzed numerically. Short Range Surface Plasmon Polariton (SRSPP) is one of the transverse-magnetic surface electromagnetic excitation that propagates in a wave like fashion along the metal film or thin metal strip. Since there is a π phase difference on the two metal film surfaces as shown in Fig. 1, SRSPP can not be excited by conventional end-fire method. Here, a novel method of exciting SRSPP mode is proposed.
