摘要

The present investigation attempts to evaluate the effect of Mechanical vibration on the solidification behavior of Al- 12% Si alloy. Cylindrical castings of diameter 30mm × 200mm length were produced in a metallic mold subjected to low frequency vibration during solidification of the alloy. It was observed that the microstructure changes under the influence of vibration. The grain structure gets refined and wear resistant properties improve. The amplitude and frequency of vibration influence the microstructure and mechanical properties of the casting.
