With the increase in demand of bandwidth in fiber optics system Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) has been developed especially for long haul network applications. Non Zero Dispersion Shifted Fiber (NZDSF) single mode fiber has been optimized for DWDM applications. High effective area NZDS Fiber improves network performance by reducing nonlinear effect such as four wave mixing, self phase modulation, cross phase modulation, etc. High effective area means high MFD resulting in high bend losses. Water ageing test is one of the method of evaluation of bend sensitivity of optical fiber. Bend sensitivity of High Effective area NZDS fibers have been reduced by optimizing profile design and MAC No. A Simulated and experimented multi clad layer profile design with reduced viscosity gradient between substrate tube and different layers of the profiles helps in reducing thermal stresses. Multi clad layer profile [1] with optimized MAC no, decreases bend sensitivity of high effective area NZDS fiber, which make it qualify in water ageing test.
