In recent years, pyrazole fungicides, a relatively new group of the pesticides with strong antifungal activities, have been widely used in farming a variety of fruits, vegetables and grain crops. The grape wine, however, is likely to be contaminated by fungicides because grapevines are especially vulnerable to fungal pathogens. GC-MS/MS has been successfully employed for the determination of pyrazole fungicide, but requiring time-consuming steps for sample preparation prior to the mass spectrometry analysis. Paper spray has previously been well-characterized for determination of pesticide and other contaminants in food. The aim of this work was to develop a paper spray mass spectrometry method to simultaneously quantify four pyrazole fungicides in grape wines.
