Here we have improved peak resolution for FT-ICR mass spectrometry imaging using absorption mode spectral processing, by Autophaser, without the requirement for baseline correction. By this approach we can achieve baseline resolution of peaks unresolved by magnitude mode processing and increase the number of detected spectral features. Differential distributions of absorbance mode peaks illustrate the importance of being able to separate closely spaced masses. Together, these data highlight the need for continuing to improve mass resolution for MSI.
