The resolving power and accuracy offered by the GC-HRT MS was indispensable to resolve alkanes, alkanols, sterols, fatty acids and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from organic extracts and thermal desorption. The biomarkers distributions revealed changes on the type of vegetation that contribute for the organic matter sources in the environment.
