Molecular-Level Markers of Natural and Artificial Aging (Forgery) in Silk Textiles

摘要

Deamidation trends in silk proteins are highly peptide dependent. Both natural and artificial aging have varying effects depending on nearest neighbor amino acids. In the future, these trends will be established for more peptides from various enzymatic digestions. Also, these analyses will be applied to suspected forgeries to see if authenticity can be deter-mined. Finally, the same methods will be applied to other proteinaceous historical samples.
