Quantitative Analysis of Antipsychotics in Urine by Liquid Chromatography-Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry

The LC-MS/MS in combination with a dilute and shoot sample preparation procedure allowed quantitation of antipsychotic drugs with acceptable precision and accuracy. This method is reliable, simple, and rapid without employing many reagents as currently existing methods. These results demonstrate the ability to screen urine for antipsychotics without compromising selectivity, sensitivity, or speed of analysis. In psychotic patients, a true negative result implies noncompliance and a higher susceptibility of suicide, not necessary by intoxication but by other means.
