Online coupling of PB reaction with ESI MS/MS to determine lipid C=C location was successfully demonstrated for both premixed and online mixing of lipid solutions using acetone as the PB reaction reagent. N_2 purging of the lipid solution before infusion reduces unwanted side reactions and enhances PB reaction product yield. Discrete versus continuous UV exposure appears to give similar results for PB reaction yield but will need to be further investigated to determine optimal conditions.
