In total, 584 proteins were identified as tranilast-binding proteins from mouse and human databases. Twenty-five proteins were identified as mouse proteins containing mouse-specific sequences. Both human and mouse KH-Type splicing regulatory proteins were identified as tranilast-binding proteins. This suggests that tranilast may affect not only the tumor itself, but also the tumor microenvironment, such as blood vessels and immune cells derived from the host animal. Proteomic analysis of xenograft model tissue can identify the potential binding proteins of a compound not only from the tumor cells but also the host animal.
