In the Pharmaceutical industry, High-Throughput Screening (HTS) Libraries are used to facilitate drug discovery. Large collections of chemically diverse samples are screened against biological targets to identify pharmacologically active compounds, which can be used to develop new drug products. The need to rapidly determine the relative purity of large numbers (10K - 1Mio) of compounds is now widely recognized as an important factor in improving drug discovery efficiency. Mass Spectrometry, which confirms compound identity, is usually coupled with UV detection for relative purity determination. However, UV detection does not give actual compound concentrations in solution without the use of individual, compound specific, reference standards.
