Personal Information Managers, or PIMs, are software applications that assist in the input, organization, storage, search, recall, formatting and sharing of information. The leading PIMs including OneNote, InfoSelect, and Inspiration, are identified and described regarding their functionality and outstanding features. PIMs adopted for use with personal digital assistants (PDAs) are described as to their two major types, note-taking and brainstorming; EverNote and MindManager are used as examples. Finally, PIMs which operate on Macintosh computers are identified and their features are described and compared. Three Mac products standout as the most professional: DEVONthink, Omni Group's combination package, and Chronos SOHO Notes.
