The purpose of this research was to determine the impact of species and moisture content on finished wood composite panel properties prepared with pMDI wood binders. MC affects the performance of each wood species differently; aspen at 12% MC and poplar and pine at 8% MC show greatest IB performance. The study also provides insight on resin particle size and resin distribution and how these values are affected by wood species and MC. The data collected on resin coverage and particle size show definite differences due to wood species and MC, suggesting that the wood material affects resin application in addition to atomizer and blender settings.
