Continuous compression moulding technique has established for manufacture of flat plates (organic sheets) and shaped parts for industrial and automotive applications. Parts are manufactured for sports industry and military applications for many years. Serial production of profiles for aircraft applications at xperion AEROSPACE GmbH already started in 2005. The solution to manufacture high performance parts with a competitive price is to reduce fabrications costs. This could be performed by automated processes and low cost machinery which reduces the man hours and amortization costs. An example how to manufacture thermoplastic composites in high quantities, is the serial production of the fixation rail for sidewall panels of Airbus A330/340. A combination of established and new processes as hot stamp forming or continuous compression moulding leads to an optimized process chain, which enables the manufacturer to deliver high quality components with a competitive price.
