This paper aims to show the development in flow diagnostic measurement technology, particularly fieldsensors, from large-scale unwieldy systems traditionally used in university laboratories, to small-scalesystems which can fit on-board real test vehicles, prototypes or wind tunnel models. The authors have shownthat such small-scale systems can achieve accuracy comparable with large-scale, more expensive equipment, opening up new opportunities for measurements in tight spaces or for internal flows.
