One of the basic research problems in supersonic aerodynamics associated with theconstruction of axisymmetric forebody with a minimum pressure drag is considered.Aerodynamic shape optimization is performed under constraints imposed on overalldimensions and enclosed volume. On the basis of the local linearization of gas-dynamicfunctions dependence on geometrical parameters an analytical solution of the problem isfound. The characteristic geometric features are established and a comparison with theresults of direct numerical optimization is made. The flow around the forebody issimulated within the framework of the Euler equations.
