Engineered surface design concepts for drag reduction were successfully flight tested on a 757 ecoDemonstrator in the spring of 2015. 1. The flight tests were a culmination of several years of collaborative work where the TRL for each concept was advanced from 3 to 6; 2. The IAMC5B coating produced a nominal 41% reduction in insect accretion, as well as a 26% reduction in average insect accretion height and an 83% reduction in areal coverage; 3. A smoother coating, IAMC5, performed similarly to the IAMC5B coating in terms of number of insect accretions, but the heights and areas of the insects were not reduced.
