The East 153~(rd) Street Bridge - New York City's First Vehicular Cable Stayed Bridge

The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) will soon begin the construction of the East 153rd Street Bridge over Metro-North Railroad. This new bridge replaces the original bridge demolished in 1992 and provides an additional much-needed crossing to alleviate the traffic burdened adjacent crossings. In addition, since this area of the Bronx is seeing a revitalization, this bridge promises to become a centerpiece for the resurgence of the Bronx.
